For women, the ancient practice of gathering together in circle, was a chance to reconnect, reflect and share our life stories and wisdoms without expectation or judgement or pressure.

It is a deep-rooted practice that we can (should!) reclaim and rediscover. A sacred space removed from the demands of the outside world.

Gathering round fire for warmth, comfort and conversation is a primal and powerful part of our human experience. Fire has always made us feel better.

The Women’s Fire Circle melds together the magic of gathering round the warmth of the flames with the supportive power of our collective, feminine spirit.

It’s a place to take a couple of hours away from the busyness and pressures of the everyday and use it whatever way you please.

A place to share, to talk, to listen, to laugh (or cry).

A place to be silent.

A place to immerse yourself in the healing power of nature.

A place to simply gaze at the flames if that is what you need.

A place to drink tea and eat cake.

A space to come together with other women just as you are.

Monthly Women’s Fire Circles take place amidst the gorgeous woodland of the National Trust Footprint near Windermere, generally around the time of the Full Moon, Equinoxes and Solstices.

Tapping into the influence of the seasons, circles may include meditation, creating, a little breathwork and gentle movement or simply a lovely get together and natter around the fire. In the warmer months, I’ll be combining Women’s Fire Circles with an optional wild swim first.

Explore how you sense things differently on a thrilling dusk to dark skies hike. Step away from artificial lighting and experience how the mind wanders and the imagination kicks in.
As night descends, the world changes and the way we experience what's around us becomes more acute. Never more so than when out amongst nature and wildlife! Exhilarating, thrilling and sometimes even a little scary! What will we hear? What will see? How will will feel? Experience the screeches, snuffles and scuffles of night-time nature connection.
The story of people’s mass disconnection from the dark started in 1880, when the inventor Joseph Swan lit up his home in north-east England with incandescent electric bulbs for the first time. In most ways it was a boon for humanity, but what is rarely considered, is the loss of something very precious. Increasing amounts of research shows that artificial lighting is bad for our health, disrupting sleep patterns, linking to obesity, poor memory and an increased risk of cancer.
Understanding the dark side of the landscape is not just about seeing or hearing interesting sounds, but noticing how darkness feels and learning to be comfortable with it. The mind wanders and the imagination kicks in.
On these hikes we'll use all our senses to explore how a nocturnal walk can reconnect us with nature for our own health and well-being and that of nature and marvel in the majesty and wonder of the starry night sly.
Ruth is a qualified Mountain Leader and Cumbria Dark Skies Ambassador.

Wild Haweswater encompasses 30 square kilometres of mossy woodland, rushing streams, moorland, heath and bog, and farmland set within a mountainous landscape on the eastern edge of the Lake District National Park.
Nestled in the folds of Haweswater’s dramatic landscape lie pockets of wildness; alpine plants cling to cliffs and ledges, whilst woodland birds, red squirrels and badgers teem in the woodlands
Wild Haweswater is a partnership between the RSPB and United Utilities, who are working together to manage the site for people, water and wildlife. With farming running alongside habitat restoration and thriving upland wildlife, the reserve demonstrates how people and nature can thrive together.

Gather with us for a beautiful blend of invigorating cold water dipping and dynamic yoga movement wrapped up with a delicious light supper and joyful connection of the magical women’s fire circle to welcome back the rising energy of Spring.
The Spring Equinox is one of two moments in the year when the sun is exactly above the equator and day and night are of equal length.
It’s the perfect time to rebalance our lives, as we look forward to the wondrous spring-rebirth of the natural world. There’s nowhere better to open ourselves up to opportunities for new beginnings and personal growth, than surrounded by the magical elements of nature: earth, water, air and fire.
